PROGREEN is working to increase the use of integrated landscape management to improve livelihoods, support economic development, and maintain and restore ecosystem services.
Activities supported under this Pillar will:
- promote sustainable land and natural resource management practices
- restore land to improve ecosystem services
- protect ecosystems that have a high conservation value
- advance forest tenure security
- improve livelihoods
- strengthen management of protected areas
- encourage nature-based tourism
- engage indigenous peoples and local communities
Pillar 2:
Promoting Sustainable Landscape Practices
PROGREEN is working to reduce agricultural land conversion through improved management of agriculture lands.
Activities under this Pillar will:
- increase sustainable food production
- restore degraded landscapes for conservation and production
- slow biodiversity loss
- increase habitat for wildlife in agriculture landscapes
- help farmers meet responsible commodity value chain sourcing and quality requirements
- promote climate-smart agriculture techniques, agroforestry approaches, and sustainable pasture management practices
Pillar 3:
Supporting Cross-sectoral Landscape Solutions
PROGREEN aims to reduce land-use change driven by sectors such as infrastructure, mining, and transport through activities that:
- improve methods and approaches for reducing the impact from other sectors on forests and for restoring areas degraded by those sectors
- develop tools for spatial land use planning and development, including socio-economic cost benefit analysis
- facilitate participatory landscape planning across sectors
- promote the design of green large-scale infrastructure and the establishment of green infrastructure networks
